Jen & Me

Jen Hallverson is a girl I met through Girls' Night. She recently got into the Marriage and Family Counseling program at Loma Linda University, which will be her stepping stone to pursue her true passion: "art therapy." She's the artist in our bunch. Her work is both refreshing and nostalgic. She'll be coming out with a website soon... so keep your eyes & ears open for JEN HALLVERSON!

... what I decided to do with the crystalline rock Jen picked out. We were a bit hesitant about this idea, but it fruitioned into perfection!

Vegas Dancer - circa 1950s

One of my favorite patients used to be a Polynesian/Tahitian dancer at the Tropicana in Las Vegas during her earlier years. Today, she is a member of the Red Hat Society. I made her these earrings because she had to miss a luncheon with her "society" ladies due to her dental appointment with me.


No worries HIPAA, I got her permission.

A ROLLING STONE is owned and operated by a Graduate Gemologist (Leah Chapman). It is located at 320 E. Citrus Avenue Redlands, CA 92373 (909-798-2282)

They are open Monday-Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.


It's a small shop, but you don't need much space to have a HUGE amount of beads!

Here is a display of my very first collection.

I took these over to my sister Teri's house for her advice and criticism (which she loves to give freely ;P)

Most my inspiration comes from family and friends... the occasional vacation to exotic places (i.e. Belize, Brazil, Mexico, Minnesota ~ that's pretty exotic for this urban girl!)... and retail stores I adore (particularly Anthropologie and small boutique stores like DenM!).

I mostly make one of a kind earrings, but upon personal requests, I will do the dubious task of duplicating my work.

My style changes from time to time... Lately, I am really into turquoise, pearls, and rich colors (purples, greens, and oranges).

I realized this was something worth pursuing when I came home from my sis' house with 4 less pairs.

Something is in the works right now with a fellow friend about to get hitched, but I am not at liberty to post my work until the day of her wedding!

Girls' Night

Every Sunday night, in drab and dreary Loma Linda, there rises an occasion that deserves much to celebrate...

GIRLS' NIGHT!

I love that we started this and have kept it going... but most importantly, I love all the girls! We are mostly dental-related, but amongst the ranks we have an artist, pastry chef, intensive care unit nurse, event planner, physical therapist/expert biker, and a guest friend or two to round out the group!

This week's Girls' Night was fondue at Tara's house. Stephanie (super duper event planner) asked me to bring my earrings along, so I thought I'd take pictures of my most devoted clients, my beautiful friends. Thanks for your support guys!

In the beginning...

Hi all... this is a blog site I am setting up for my earrings, since it is the closest thing to my having a baby, or family, or any other significant relationship worth blogging about.

Those of you curious might want to know:

- How did all this madness start?

Well, it all began when I learned that a fellow schoolmate (cutie-patootie party planner and soon to be periodontist extraordinaire, Jennifer Clark) told me she was making earrings with her orthodontic pliers (which, for those of you dental-related will easily understand that we use these pliers to learn how to bend wire for orthodontic braces)... At first, I was reluctant to begin yet ANOTHER hobby because those of you who know me, know how "balls out" I go when it comes to my hobbies, but I figured, "hey, I had to purchase these ortho pliers for dental school, and I'm never going to use them ever again, so why not!?!?

As it turns out, I found myself at the local Joanns one day (yeah, I know... just happened to find myself there one day... how lame am I?) and I was surprised by how mesmerized I was!! Needless to say, two hours and $50 down the hole, I came home and began twiddling with my pliers.

The name "tweed & loop" comes from the fact that the main ortho wire bending tool I use to make my jewelry is called a "tweedloop plier." I am fully responsible for coming up with the creativity of "&"!
